This competition has become the oldest open tournament in the region after more than 30 years of history, and is one of the most respectful events during the season. Organized by the chess club Salt i Girona, it is officially approved by the Catalan Federation, the Spanish Federation and the FIDE, and included in the "Circuit Gironí", awarding winners with thousands of Euros. The tournament is taking place during April and May. Most of the region's best chess players have taken part in it throughout the entire history of this event.
